Unwired Wireless Internet is Rubbish

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

If there is one thing I really hate it’s really poor internet service. There isn’t anything worse as a web junkie than waiting whilst pages don’t load properly or don’t load at all. Now when you are paying a few bucks for dialup internet that’s to be expected but not when you are paying a fair amount of money for an internet service which is no where near what you would expect.

Enter the pathetic Unwired wireless broadband here in Australia. My girlfriend is using their internet service and when I’m there it drives me crazy because it’s so damn slow. Now this is supposed to be broadband but it’s not much better than dialup and I think it’s absolutely pathetic is also useless unless all you do is get a couple of text emails.

Now here are the plans.

Now the plan my girlfriend is on is the highest available priced at $109.95 and called the Unleashed Plan. Maybe they should think about unleashing it sometime. Since it is so bad I thought I would test to see just how fast a connection we were getting so I jumped on to speedtest.net.

The results speak for themselves. That is absolutely pathetic for a $100+ internet plan. What happened to the 1024kbps? I wouldn’t expect to be peaking the service but anything under 50% is just not good enough.

Unwired… You get the SpinDigg big Thumbs Down and a lost customer. If you want unwired broadband in Australia then I wouldn’t recommend Unwired.

Young Aussie Math Whiz Invents a Faster Internet

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

jpap_portrait_narrowweb__300x3750.jpgAn young 29 year old Australian named John Papandriopoulos, has developed a way to revolutionize the internet by increasing bandwidth performance by at least 100 times. Did I forget to say that John is also a math guru and researcher with the University of Melbourne and came up with this whilst having a shower. Now that’s what I call brainstorming.

According to other reports John has developed an algorithm to reduce the electromagnetic interference that slows down ADSL connections.

Most ADSL services around the world are effectively limited to speeds between 1 to 20Mbps, but if Dr Papandriopoulos’s technology is successfully commercialised that speed ceiling would be closer to 100Mbps.
The Age

Now Johns new algorithm has sparked huge interest around the globe with a California based startup snapping up Johns super brain. There’s no doubt that Johns algorithm will dramatically change the internet if it is rolled out in the next couple of years.

Now where can I get a brain like that?

Why Modeling and Martial Arts Don’t Mix

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

Here is what happens when you mix martial arts with modeling.

I feel really bad for the model who just gets up and walks away. She didn’t look like she was hurt but those sharp edges in the broken part of the stage could have quite easily gave her a nasty gash.

Ouch!
